I can’t believe it is already April. In the blink of an eye the year is moving forward. I thought I would share some of the books I have read this year (or re-read in 2018) as well as some books that I am excited to get to in the coming weeks/months.
Start With Why – Simon Sinek – the book behind https://www.ted.com/talks/simon_sinek_how_great_leaders_inspire_action
Crush It – Gary Vaynerchuk – not my usual type of read. A book that is very much in Gary Vee’s style and approach. A short, easy read but didn’t get as much out of this book as I expected.
The Compound Effect – Darren Hardy – a great book. Everything either compounds for or against you. A great read and the additional resourcers are worth subscribing to. Darren Daily is a regular part of my morning routine for 5 minute knowledge bites. Thanks Darren.
The Joshua Principle – Tony Hughes – Having had Tony consult to our business, I was excited to read this book. A must read for all sales professionals in my opinion. Love the style it is written in by weaving a fictional story with sound sales principles. I’m looking forward to reading Combo Prospecting!
Everyone Communicates, Few Connect – John Maxwell – classic John Maxwell. Leadership gold with great advice on how to improve your ability to connect with people.
Winning With People – John Maxwell. As above. Worked through this with our leadership team.
Currently I am reading High Performance Habits by Brendan Burchard. I’m about half way through and recommend you check it out. You can also see his videos on Youtube or other resourcers at Brendon.com
In The List To Read
Combo Prospecting – Tony Hughes – Tony’s second book. Tony is an award winning blogger, great author and guy. If you are in sales and not following him then you are missing out!
The Strength-Switch – Dr Lea Waters – Lea heads the Centre of Positive Psychology at the University of Melbourne. I recently completed the Positive Leadership Development Course at Melbourne Uni with her and Adam Barsky and it was one of the best courses I have completed. This book looks packed full of the science of a strength based approach. I’m looking forward to it.
Multipliers – Liz Wiseman – Liz ran a great session on multipliers (and accidental diminishers) at the Peak Performance Summit. I can’t wait to jump into this book.
The Coaching Habit – Michael Bungay-Stanier – Michael’s coaching workshop at the Peak Performance Summit was brilliant. After a long day he commanded the room with his wit and charisma. His 5 questions provided an effective way to coach. No doubt a great read ahead.
Mindset – Carol Dweck – This has been on the bookshelf for a while and I haven’t got around to it. It was recommended to me again recently.
What great books have you read on personal or professional development? Or a great fiction book? (I haven’t listed the fiction books I have read above but always looking for a great new fiction read as well!)
