It goes without saying that reading is an excellent habit at any age. From a young child to now I have thoroughly enjoyed reading. Reading has has helped me progress, inspired me to be a better human, grown me in all areas of my life and challenged my perspectives and views of the world. (and given me brand new perspectives!)
The more I read, the more connections I make between books, seemingly disparate ideas/concepts and expand my knowledge. It helps you to think critically, consider what you believe and why and really is a gift that keeps on giving.
So what have I been reading (not including fiction books) through 2022?
So what have I been reading? (in no particular order)
Principles - Ray Daalio
Negotiate Without Fear - Victoria Medvec
Never Split The Difference - Christopher Voss
The Happiest Man On Earth - Eddie Jaku
The War Of Art - Steven Pressfield
The Brain That Changes Itself – Norman Doidge
The Daily Stoic - Ryan Holiday
12 Rules For Life - Jordan Peterson
Unpack Your Existence - Fredrick Praesto (thanks Henry for the Recomnendation)
The Everyday Hero Manifesto - Robin Sharma
Twelve And A Half - Gary Vee
The Wim Hof Method - Wim Hof
The Art of Impossible - Steven Kotler
The Power Of One More - Ed Mylett
The Mindful Athlete - George Mumford
Everyone of the books above impacted me in a different way. None of them were bad reads, all are worth purchasing, however the books I recommended the most, purchased for others or passed on were.
The Power Of One More - an incredible book by Ed Mylett which challenges you to change your life with just 'One More'. I have a personal bias here as a fan of Ed and his content and shared this book with many people in my close network.
The Art of Impossible - a book that covers motivation, the learning process, creativity and how to chase, maintain and find your state of flow. It's all about chasing after big 'I' impossible goals! If you haven't read any of Steven's books to date I would recommend starting here and then checking out 'The Rise of Superman' and 'Stealing Fire'.
The Happiest Man On Earth - what an emotional read. A man who lived through hell on earth (the Holocaust) and could still find happiness and hope. "Life can be beautiful if you make it beautiful”.
In The List To Read (in no particular order)
My goal will be to work through these before the end of the year.
Beyond Order, 12 More Rules For Life - Jordan Peterson
Hear Yourself - Prem Rewat (thanks Keith & Sonya for the recommendation)
The Shape of Calling - Chris Trodden (my good friends book!)
Life Force - Tony Robbins
The High Five Habit - Mel Robbins
The Future Is Faster Than You Think - Peter H Diamandis
Man's Search For Meaning - Viktor Frankl
If you would like to know more about any of the books above then drop me a message.
What have you read that I should add to my list for 2023? I’d love some recommendations for next year, particularly if they are outside of what you may feel is my sphere of reading above.
