Thank You Aurec

Where do I even start with this blog?

In March 2022, my journey with Aurec (11 years) comes to an end. And what a journey it has been!

Spanning 4 offices from starting my journey out in serviced offices on Collins St, to 51 Queen st, 99 William street and now at 360 Collins.

We’ve helped over 10,000 +candidates, and countless clients across Australia. We’ve changed people’s lives and careers at all levels, delivered significant transformation programs, built entire teams, worked with start-ups, scale-ups, enterprise clients and everything in between!

This has led to some incredible results, culminating in our acquisition by Randstad in 2020.

From this time I assumed our Managing Director role and with our incredible team we have gone from the 2nd highest business unit to number 1 in Randstad across all key metrics. We have continued to grow YoY, delivered an exceptional result through COVID and this year achieved over 34% growth YoY across our group and a record result. I’m so proud of what our team has achieved! A reflection of their hard work, dedication and consistency towards chasing excellence and outcomes for our customers.

Our team is primed for growth across both our Recruitment and Consulting divisions (Aurec/Chalfont), has an incredible leadership team, high performance culture, amazing consultants and the support of a commercially focused operations team.

I’ve loved every minute of the journey and believe the team has the DNA and core to continue this journey beyond my tenure with the business. I trust they will hold to their values/core beliefs and continue to drive the vision of One Team, People First and their Relentless Pursuit of Personal Growth – a differentiator that I believe has helped them outperform the market year in and year out.

Aurec will always hold a special place in my heart, it was my baby, I lived and breathed the business for 11 years. It was a business where I challenged everything about myself as a professional and a person and had the opportunity to build something from scratch.

I made mistakes, learnt, grew, challenged myself and others and found my feet as a leader and as an Executive. There was blood, sweat, tears, late nights, long hours, interrupted holidays and I loved it. I really loved it!!

Intertwined with this was lives changed, (candidates, clients) results delivered and I hope a legacy left with the team members (both past and present) that was a step in the journey to them becoming a better version of themselves.

That was my ultimate goal and part of the legacy I hope I left – to positively impact the team around me and that of our clients and candidates.

There are so many people to thank over this time. I could thank everyone individually who has been through our doors. You have all helped shaped the business, grown myself and others and played a part in our success. For the sake of time through I will try and keep it brief.

Firstly, starting with some key people in the Aurec Team.

Saul Kwintner – you gave me the opportunity of a lifetime! Thank you for your support, guidance, direct questions and pushing me to always do more. The platform you gave me personally and through Aurec has made me into the person I am today.

Ryan Evans - I knew when you first took over Canberra you were going to do amazing things. 9 years later, you are running a phenomenal office, built a consulting business from scratch, you’re a quality human and are the DNA of Aurec. It’s been an absolute pleasure to work with you, bounce ideas of you and learn from one another. Along this journey you’ve become a trusted friend and I have no doubt we will stay in touch and drive each other and cross paths again in the future! I look forward to coming to Canberra on September 4th for your 10 years.

Kelly Lloyd – you’ve been here longer than me across your 2 stints. We could write a book with all the stories we’ve collected along the way. From your time in Operations (where I might have killed you once upon a time 😊) to building an incredible Visa business. You’ve delivered exceptional results for our team internally, clients externally and it’s been fun working with you every step of the way. I look forward to you continuing to evolve on your journey.

Jason Raju – almost 9 years we have spent working together mate. I’m proud to look back and say that we are both completely different people. Our lives have changed, our families have changed and you’ve been part of the foundations of our business. Thanks for your hustle, hard work and the fun we’ve had along the way!

Stathi Paleologos – what a whirlwind of an 18 months. You came in and quickly took the team to new heights! A brilliant human, leader and performer. We’ve had some many good times along the ride and I look forward to us levelling up together over the coming years.

Stephen McGain – what you’ve done in Sydney has been exceptional. You refreshed the culture, built out the team and delivered record results. The office is in the best space it’s ever been and I have no doubt will continue to build. Well done mate. I look forward to watching you continue to grow and no doubt we will catch up when I am in Sydney. Can’t wait to see the new office space as well!

Juliet Fallace - thank you for helping us shape Chalfont Consulting, making a dream into reality, bringing clarity, vision and helping accelerate our growth plans. The Chalfont business would not be the same without your efforts to drive it frome day 1! All while being a great human :)

My VIC Team where it all started and grew. From my original team through to the team we have now. What a journey!!

Thank you to everyone who played a part. I hope I was able to impact your individual journeys for the better. I reflect on those who have worked with Aurec and I am so pleased to see them succeed both with and beyond the business. We’ve had consultants start their own agencies, lead internal TA functions, move into consulting, IT sales and technical roles. Seeing you succeed gives me great joy as a leader.

There are so many fond memories, funny stories, (some that we couldn’t share on LI) great nights out and milestones we shared together. See below for a collage of fun times 😊

Thank you to you all.

The broader Aurec/Chalfont Group.

I wish you all the best. I genuinely want to see all of you succeed and am here to support you if you ever need a sounding board or advice as you continue to level up. You are an amazing group of people and I look forward to watching you all continue to develop and win 😊

Secondly, all the clients and candidates I have had the privilege to support. We’ve done some amazing things together. Thank you for your support, candour, friendship, fun and for allowing me and the Aurec team the opportunity to shape your worlds and make an impact. Without you there is no Aurec

Thirdly, my mentors, confidants and people who have helped me grow over this journey. I wouldn’t be where I am today, had the results I have achieved or be the person I am without you! I am a different person because of you. Thank you for your continued support as I make the next move 😊

And finally, my family and close friends – you’ve seen the trials and tribulations. You’ve been with me in the valleys and on the mountaintops and you’ve been by my side in both situations. I love you all. You put up with my obsessions, (growth of others, leadership, recruitment) my goals/dreams and challenge me to get after it.

From here, I will be embarking on a new journey, looking to accelerate the growth of a brilliant business (more info to come soon) learn new things, challenge myself and set a new standard for what can be achieved for our team and our clients. We can always raise the bar!

I’m excited to see where this journey takes me and hope that Aurec continues to grow from strength to strength with a new leader driving the business.

For me - It’s time to get uncomfortable again!!
